Safewaze Cable Anchors, Cable Sling Anchors, and Cable Extenders are designed and tested for use as convenient anchorage connection points. The Cable Anchor and Cable Sling Anchor can be wrapped around a structural member and attached to a personal fall arrest system (PFAS). The Cable Anchor, Cable Sling Anchor, and Cable Extender can all be used as extenders with an existing anchor and a PFAS. The current product specifications outlined in the manual of the Cable Anchor, Cable Sling Anchor, and Cable Extender have not changed. However, these products can also be used in restraint applications provided the user follows the Safewaze manual and the following guidelines:
- The structure to which the product is attached must withstand loads applied in the directions permitted by the system of at least 1,000 lbs. (4 kN).
- No free fall is permitted.
- The restraint system shall only be used on surfaces with slopes up to 4/12 (vertical/ horizontal).
- The product is attached to the harness by the Dorsal, Front/Sternal, Side, or Shoulder D-rings.
Regardless of the product used, a Competent Person shall determine the system is capable of withstanding anticipated fall loads and meets, or exceeds, OSHA required anchorage strength regulations. Additionally, the manufacturer’s instructions should always be read, understood, and followed for all components and subsystems in the Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS). Refer to the Safewaze manual provided with the product, or available online, for proper use and additional installation information.
