Safewaze Academy Courses

Fall Protection Competent Person

This Competent Person course is designed for anyone who works at height as well as the decision makers and supervisors responsible for ensuring proper fall protection on the job. The course will provide students with the knowledge to identify existing and potential hazards and the means to mitigate them. 

Topics covered:
  • Fall hazard elimination and control measures
  • Applicable fall protection regulations
  • Fall hazard surveys and fall protection procedures
  • Responsibilities of designated persons under the standards
  • Detailed inspection and care of equipment components and systems
  • Fall protection system assessments to determine when a system is unsafe
  • Fundamentals of fall protection rescue

Industrial Rescuer

This Industrial Rescuer course is designed for anyone who works at height that is responsible for the fall protection rescue program as well as immediate supervisors of authorized rescuers. The course will provide students with the knowledge to utilize pre-engineered rescue equipment and techniques for safe and timely rescues. Students will be required to actively participate in practical rescue scenarios 

Prerequisite: Fall Protection Competent Person 

Topics covered:
  • Fall hazard elimination and control measures
  • Applicable fall protection and rescue regulations
  • Assessment of fall hazards to determine rescue methods
  • Responsibilities of designated persons under the standards
  • Detailed inspection and recording of rescue equipment components and systems
  • Rescue system assessments to determine when a system is unsafe
  • Development of written fall protection rescue procedures

EM385 Fall Protection Competent Person

This EM385 Fall Protection Competent Person course is designed for anyone who will be working on a US Army Corps of Engineers site or another site that it might be required. The course will provide students with the knowledge to identify existing and potential fall hazards and the means to mitigate them.

  • Fall hazard elimination and control measures
  • Applicable fall protection regulations
  • Fall hazard surveys and fall protection plans and procedures
  • Responsibilities of designated persons under the standards
  • Detailed inspection and care of equipment components and systems
  • Fall protection system assessments and components
  • Fundamentals of fall protection rescue
  • EM385 fall protection requirements

Fall Protection Competent Person Trainer

This Competent Person Trainer course is designed for someone who will be delivering in house Authorized Person fall protection training. The course will provide students with the knowledge to identify existing and potential hazards and the means to mitigate them, plus equip students with both classroom and practical techniques to teach the course material.

  • Fall hazard elimination and control measures
  • Applicable fall protection regulations
  • Fall hazard surveys and fall protection procedures
  • Responsibilities of designated persons under the standards
  • Detailed inspection and care of equipment components and systems
  • Fall protection system assessments to determine when a system is unsafe
  • Fall protection rescue with extensive hands-on practice in various scenarios
  • Developing lesson plans and understanding learning objectives
  • Skills in adult education methods

Courses are available in person at your location or at Safewaze Academy, with refresher and recertification options also offered.
