Additional substrate testing completed on the 019-4006 FrogLink Permanent Roof Anchor allows use of this anchor in concrete. With this use, the anchor meets OSHA anchorage requirements with a safety factor of 2 with its Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) of 3,600 lbs. The current manual is being revised to include this information.
Specifications and installation instructions for use on concrete:
-Minimum 3000 PSI or greater concrete slab, minimum 3” thick
-Must be installed at least 6” from the edge with minimum embedment of 1-3/4”
1. Pre-drill pilot holes in alignment of alterative fastener holes in anchor using a 3/16” masonry bit 1/2” deeper than Tapcon length used. If using the 1-3/4” length recommended, this would be 2-1/4” depth. Thoroughly clean pilot holes before installation.
2. With an impact driver, install (4) 1/4” x 1-3/4” hex head Tapcon concrete screws (or comparable) in pilot holes, starting at the bottom of the anchor opposite of the anchor connection point, ensuring the hex heads are seated securely but stopping before over torque of masonary threads. Longer Tapcon screws may be used, but concrete thickness should increase to accommodate the increased screw length. See image 1 below for proper installation locations of screws.
