ANSI Z359.18-2017 requires any welding of anchors during installation to be performed by an AWS certified welder. In addition, there are several other Safewaze products, like horizontal lifeline (HLL) bases, that fall outside the scope of ANSI Z359.18-2017, where Safewaze also requires AWS certified welding for installation. Safewaze understands AWS certification may not be locally available or easily accessible outside the United States.
For any project outside the US that requires welding of a Safewaze product, a welder not certified by AWS may install the product if the following conditions are met:
- The welder is certified under an international, national, or regional standard equivalent to or greater than that of AWS standards for the material and type of weld required.
- The installation is followed by the inspection of a Qualified Person prior to use.
In these scenarios, the end user must understand that the project would not be in compliance with ASSP/ANSI standards under Z359.18-2017. The end user also assumes full responsibility for the installed product during any compliance inspection, audit, or regulatory review.
