Inspection, Maintenance, and Service Life of Safewaze Products

Related Products: Safewaze Products

Related Standards: ANSI Z359 & OSHA 1926.502, 1910.66

Prior to installation or use, Safewaze products should be stored in a cool, dry area. Exposure to extreme light, extreme heat, excessive moisture, or possible corrosive chemicals/materials should be avoided in storage.

Safewaze products must be inspected by the user prior to each use in accordance with the product manual’s inspection instructions. If deficiencies or damages are found, or if the product has been exposed to a fall event, the product must immediately be removed from service and destroyed so as not to allow accidental re-use.

A Competent Person, other than the user, must also inspect the product at least once annually. Annual Competent Person inspections must be recorded in the inspection log included in the product’s manual or on the product’s label. Depending on the severity of the conditions during use, Safewaze products may require more frequent inspections.

Most Safewaze products can be cleaned with water and mild soap. The user shall remove all dirt, possible corrosives, and contaminants from the system prior to, and after, each use. Never use any type of corrosive substance to clean the system. Excess water shall be blown out with compressed air. Hardware can be wiped off with a clean, dry cloth. Do not store product if wet or damp. Allow product to fully dry before storing.

Safewaze does not set expiration dates on products, as OSHA and ANSI do not require them. The working life of the product is determined by work conditions, care, and inspection provided. So long as the product and all components pass inspection, it may remain in service. Only Safewaze, or entities authorized in writing by Safewaze, may make repairs to Safewaze fall protection equipment.

Each Safewaze product is unique and the specific product’s manual should be referred to for detailed inspection, maintenance, repair, cleaning, storage, and disposal information. For questions regarding the information in this Technical Bulletin, please contact Customer Service at (800) 230-0319.
